"LIKE NEW". Step one: contaminated soil is screened and crushed so the material sent into the processing unit is uniform in size. Step two: the contaminated soil is heated to a temperature of up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit so that the contaminants in the soil are vaporized. Step three: the vapors are cooled and condensed for collection in liquid form. Depending on the nature of the contaminants, the liquid is then recycled, further processed, or destroyed. Step four: the heated soil is then cooled, tested for contaminant levels, and returned to its owner for use as backfill or sent to a landfill as daily cover. |
