Material is fed into the top and it falls onto a feeder pan
(60" wide) that spreads and controls the speed of the flow
through the machine. The material gets treated with
high voltage as it hits the same width roller. This
charges the material with static electricity and makes the
nonconductors stick to the roll which carries them under the
roll where they get brushed off as one stream of material.
The conducting material (metal) will not hold a static
charge when the metal touches the roll. This material
gets thrown off the roll by centrifugal force at a different
spot on the roll. By moving an adjustable "splitter",
you can catch the metal in a different discharge chute than
the nonconductors. |
